From D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths / my childhood.
Thanks for the submission! The parentage of Greek deities can be difficult to keep straight. Have a look around our posts on Greek Myth for supplemental info!
I had this book (and the Norse version) checked out from my elementary school library almost 100% of the time
I owned this book and loved it. It was great! (And huge!)
Favorite childhood book
i can still remember where it was in my elementary school library
I liked the Norse one better (and while it wasn’t a D’Aulaires book, there was a collection about Aztec/Incan gods that made Quetzalcoatl look beyond badass. 9- or 10-year-old me thought there should be a video game where the hero fights all the old gods. Looking back on that idea now, much older me wishes younger me had looked into copyrighting that video game idea…)
I was obsessed with this book (and the Norse one) - but this one was my favorite. Also, to speak to Will’s desire to play a video game about old gods: THE BATTLE FOR MOUNT OLYMPUS… Not exactly the game you wanted to create, but still awesome.
thehandshake: I gave my daughter her first scare with this book. I showed her a picture of Cronus eating his babies. She looked at the picture, gasped and said “he’s a bad man.” This book is awesome, but not appropriate for two year olds.
